- Shoebury Park:
Free Family Activity Day
- 7 July 2018, 11.00am to 4.00pm
- Shoebury Park
Focal Point Gallery is pleased to present a free Family Activity Day in Shoebury Park to launch a new project developed by artist Kieren Reed with local schools and youth groups in Shoeburyness, Southend-on-Sea.
From 11.00am to 4.00pm on Saturday 7th July, Kieren and other artists will be in the park offering free workshops and activities for children and their families throughout the day. Please join us in the picnic area near the children’s playground in Shoebury Park.
About the Project:
Kieren has spent two years visiting the Park to develop a new project that merges the interests of the young people he has met with his own research and practice as an artist. The result is a new use-able sculpture made of many parts that can be arranged and re-arranged into an infinite series of sculptures.
In addition Kieren has created Park Explorations, a new children's activity book that draws inspiration from forest schools, the history of public art in the area, outdoor games, and learning through play.
Each element of the project will be launched in Shoebury Park on Saturday 7th July where children and their families are encouraged to use the new sculpture and activity book for the first time.
All workshops are free and suitable for children from the ages of 4+. Some activities will be drop-in, and you will also be able to book hour-long workshops on the day. Please note that all activities will require parents and responsible adults to stay with their children and join in.
This project is curated by Rose Lejeune with Focal Point Gallery.
