This event will take place at X Marks the Bökship in London and launch the new book A Detour Around Infermental, published by Focal Point Gallery, which examines the historical legacy and contemporary relevance of the video archive Infermental, the ‘first international magazine on videocassettes’ initiated by Hungarian Filmmaker Gábor Bódy in 1981.

This publication follows the Focal Point Gallery exhibition ‘Infermental’, which took place in 2010 and formed the first significant presentation of the project in a UK gallery.

A Detour Around Infermental is edited by George Clark, Dan Kidner and James Richards and is printed in an edition of 1,000.

The publication will be available for special launch price on £6 on the evening.

A Detour Around Infermental is funded by Arts Council England and Southend Borough Council, while the launch event is funded by Eastern Pavilions.

The event is open to all and is free.
