Focal Point Gallery is pleased to present ‘Blue Gloves and Tigers’, a new commission from British artist Jefford Horrigan for the gallery’s Window Space and the Big Screen in Elmer Square.
Jefford Horrigan makes performances and short films rooted in sculpture and drawing. For this new work, the artist presents three new video-performances that move between the interior and exterior space. In his performances and films, Horrigan manipulates and animates domestic objects. In the display for the window space, the artist invites the audience to exist amongst a series of objects that appear to be frozen in a moment or action.
‘You would think that with everything in the world something could easily become something else. I often return to the same thing to make something recognisably other. Frequently asked if my furniture is a woman or a man, I like to joke if you’re into furniture you know it is furniture.’
