Focal Point Gallery runs a regular programme of events for adults, children and family groups to accompany exhibitions. These include artist’s talks and workshops, film screenings and drop-in events. Free exhibition tours can be arranged by gallery staff for school, college and community groups who book in advance.

The gallery provides interpretation materials for exhibitions including artist biographies and resumés, further reading and information on associated works and key themes. These can be made available in advance to school and college groups visiting the gallery.

We provide explanations and activities specifically for children and young people. Materials can also be made available for those with disabilities – please contact the gallery for more information.

Please use the links in this paragraph or the navigation bar at the top of the page to find out about workshops and events we've run in the past, our education policy and the facilities availlable.

Artist Heidi Wigmore is leading our drop-in art session for the national Big Draw event with the theme of 'Notions of Home'. It's an experimental, collaborative drawing which extends out of the gallery and around the library, where the pencil never leaves the page, always handed on to the next person. Draw your idea of home and family; places that are important to you; add your written thoughts.

A limited number of concessionary places are available to Southend Borough Council Advantage card D holders on each workshop. For further details or to book a place, please call 01702 534108 or email focalpointgallery@southend.gov.uk.
