  • ‘Is Southend Homophobic?'
    LGBTQI* History Month
  • 25 February 2017, 6.00pm to 9.30pm

To mark LGBTQI* History Month we are inviting everyone into the gallery for a Saturday night takeaway!

Over food we will ask what life is like for LGBTQI* people in Essex, question if our town is homophobic and/or transphobic and attempt to answer some questions you have about the LGBTQI* community.

Local artist Scottee will chair the dinner alongside Southend based LGBTQI* artists, thinkers and doers. This will be followed by a performance from the trans, queer, riot grrrl punk band T-Bitch.

There will be queer zines for sale.

Everyone is welcome to this free event – including your homophobic Nan.

Scottee is an artist who makes work about outsiderness and was recently included in the Independent's Rainbow List as one of Britain's most influential LGBTQI* people.

T-Bitch are a band promoting queer visibility and dressing up! They are part transvestite punk, part Riot Grrrl, all noise, free of social expectations and stereotypes.
